Lithuanian colleges are offering short-cycle Informatics studies

2022 admission to short-cycle studies at higher education institutions starts on June 1st. This academic year, short-cycle studies in Lithuania are being introduced for the first time. Graduates of short-cycle studies will be able to gain the most marketable qualifications in just 1,5 to 2 years.

Students who are enrolling in 2022 will have the opportunity to study in the fields of Informatics Engineering and System Programs. The Government is funding 40 new study places – 20 in each study field.

Competitive admission to short-cycle studies at a higher education institution is open to persons with at least secondary education or a professional qualification obtained in a vocational training program. The competitive score is based on the results of school-leaving examinations and assessments of learning and other special abilities.

30 percent of the competitive score depends on the average score of two school subjects. Out of Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Information Technology, two that are most favorable for the applicant will be chosen and the score calculated by the results of the matriculation examinations or annual grades.

50 percent of the score depends on the completion of a vocational training program in the same field of education or an entrance test. The remaining 20 percent is calculated according to other achievements of the applicant. For example, at least 2 years of professional experience in a corresponding field will award the applicant 10 additional points. Relevant experience of at least 1 year will award the applicant 5 additional points.
