Open position for director of Center for Physical Sciences and Technology
The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is inviting all of those who are interested to apply for the position of Director of the State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, the largest research institution in Lithuania. This is one of the most important positions in the research sector, since the institution is involved in unique research and development activities in laser technology, nuclear physics, bio- and nanotechnology, and other research fields. The institution not only develops high-level research, but also creates modern technologies that benefit business and society.
Around 670 employees, turnover of EUR 24 million, around 400 business customers, the potential to further increase the commercialisation of knowledge, the opportunity to seek additional funding from international projects and by attracting business contracts, and the international leadership of the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology: these are the challenges that await the new manager.

The State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology is a state research institute.
Legal form: public institution.
Owner: the State Research Institute Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (hereinafter the Institute) is owned by the Republic of Lithuania. The founder of the Institute is the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. The rights and obligations of the State as a shareholder (owner) of the Institute shall be exercised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania, except in cases where, in accordance with laws or other legislation, the rights and obligations of the State as a shareholder (owner) shall be exercised by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.

Salary of the Director
The salary of the Director of the Institute shall be determined in accordance with the Description of the Procedure for Assignment of Salaries for Directors of State Research Institutes, whose Owner's Rights and Duties are Implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, approved by Order No ISAK-1089 of 4 June 2007 On the Approval of the Description of the Procedure for Assignment of Salaries for Directors of State Research Institutes, whose Owner's Rights and Duties are Implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport.
The salary coefficient and the performance bonus for the Director of the Institute shall be fixed each year for the period from 1 February to 31 January of the following year. Until 31 January 2024, the Institute Director's salary coefficient shall be 23.33 (EUR 4 339.38) and the performance bonus (percentage of the salary) shall be 61% (EUR 2 647.02), for a total of EUR 6 986.4 before tax.
Qualification requirements for the position of Director of the Institute:
1. being of good repute as defined in Article 5 of the Republic of Lithuania Law on Higher Education and Research;
2. holding a PhD;
3. at least 5 years of management experience in leading a large team of at least 10 researchers, a unit of an institution, or an individual institution, and a combined management experience of at least 10 years;
5. experience in managing research and development (R&D) projects or parts thereof at international level;
5. experience in commercialising R&D results and technology transfer;
6. research or study experience abroad;
7. knowledge of the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, the resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the legislation of the European Union, and other legislation related to the activities of the Institute;
8. knowledge of the legislation defining the policy and strategy of the science, studies and innovation in Lithuania and the European Union;
9. knowledge of the specifics of implementation of the Institute's main lines of research and of their prospects;
10. being familiar with the principles of international research and technology organisation activity;
11. being familiar with the institutional framework for the administration of the European Union structural assistance;
12. knowledge of Lithuanian, the level of proficiency in which must comply with the requirements for the state language proficiency categories approved by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No 1688 of 24 December 2003 On the Approval of the Description for the Establishment and Implementation of the State Language Proficiency Categories;
13. knowledge of English.

Volano g. 2, Vilnius), Room 117, Monday to Thursday from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 17.00, on Fridays from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 15.45.
The following documents in Lithuanian or the accompanying translations into Lithuanian certified in accordance with the procedure laid down by law must be submitted:
1. request to participate in the competition (in free form) with contact details (telephone number, e-mail address, residence address);
2. personal identity document and/or a copy thereof;
3. document certifying a scientific degree and/or a copy thereof;
4. brief curriculum vitae containing information which enables an objective assessment of the applicant's fulfilment of the qualification requirements;
5. brief description of research activities and a list of research publications;
6. draft operational plan for the Institute;
7. declaration of good faith.
