Announcement of competition for the position of the head of the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore

The Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore is looking for its new head by announcing the competition for the position of the Director of the Institute. Applications for participation in the competition can be submitted until 11 October inclusive.

Applicants must hold a doctorate degree in social sciences, at least 3 years of experience in participating in international research and experimental development (R&D) projects and publishing scientific articles in international publications, good command of the English language and must meet other requirements.

The Institute carries out long-term Lithuanian scientific research, social and cultural development of Lithuanian studies important for the state and society, and has a status of special national importance. It is expected that the new head will take the lead in strengthening the Institute’s activities and increasing its visibility in the international space.

The salary of the head of the Institute reaches over EUR 5,100 before tax.

The Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore is a state research institute under the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports. It is the main scientific institution of Lithuanian literature and folklore with a high concentration of scientists, doctoral students and other researchers working on these topics.

The Institute conducts long-term fundamental researches of Lithuanian literature, folklore and heritage of old Lithuanian literature, and accumulates literary and folklore heritage. The Institute has accumulated one of the largest archives of Lithuanian literature and folklore in the world.

The Institute also ensures development of Lithuanian studies in the European and global scientific space, contributes to the strengthening of the cultural identity of Lithuanian society and the state through scientific research.

Currently, the institute has 115 employees, including 78 researchers. Last year’s budget of the Institute amounted to 4.1 million euros.
