At the International Geography Olympiad, the Lithuanian team of students ranked first for the second year in a row
At the 22nd International Geography Olympiad, held August 11–17 in Istanbul, Turkey, the Lithuanian student team won first prize. This is the second year in a row that our country’s team has won the Champion’s title at this Olympiad. Lithuanian students brought home two Gold and two Silver Medals.
Gold Medals were won by Lukas Petrikas (11th grader, Vilnius Lyceum, teacher Jolita Milaknienė) and Ugnius Vilimas (also from Vilnius Lyceum, 11th grade, teacher Rima Bačkienė).
Faustas Kondratavičius and Rojus Kondratavičius (Gymnasium of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, 12th grade, teacher Jovita Vizbarienė) were awarded Silver Medals.
This year’s Olympiad featured 184 participants from 48 countries around the world and six continents. Second prize went to the team of students from Kazakhstan, while the United States ranked third.
