Christophe Kamp, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, paid a visit to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport
On 19 May, Christophe Kamp, High Commissioner on National Minorities of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), visited the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. Discussions during the meeting covered the topical issues related to the education of Lithuania’s national minorities.
The team of the Ministry presented to the OSCE delegation how education in schools of national minorities is organised in Lithuania and what support the State provides to Ukrainian war refugees seeking to receive education in Lithuania.
The meeting also included discussions on how Lithuania is addressing the challenges posed by demographic trends in ensuring access to education for national minorities in the regions, how Lithuanian language skills of pupils in schools of national minorities are being enhanced, and how the qualifications of teachers in schools of national minorities are being improved.
