State support for sports organisations supporting Ukrainian athletes in Lithuania
Lithuanian sports federations and organisations helping Ukrainian athletes have been awarded EUR 100,000 in financial support. For the fourth year in a row, the state budget has been used to reimburse Lithuanian sports organisations for the costs incurred in organising training camps and competitions for Ukrainian athletes in Lithuania. According to the representatives of the Lithuanian Handball Federation, helping Ukrainian teams is the least the country's sports organisations can do for the war-torn country.
The National Sports Agency has awarded 8 organisations with state budget funds through a competitive process: Lithuanian Modern Pentathlon Federation – more than EUR 21 thousand, Lithuanian Handball Federation – almost EUR 19 thousand, Lithuanian Wrestling Federation – almost EUR 14.5 thousand, Association Hockey Lithuania – EUR 13.5 thousand, Lithuanian Kyokushin Karate and Rowing Federations and Lithuanian Baseball Association – more than EUR 9 thousand each, Lithuanian Athletics Federation – more than EUR 4 thousand.
