World Lithuanian Sports Games to be held in Jonava in 2029

Only a few days are left before the big sports event that will bring together Lithuanians from across the world - the XII World Lithuanian Sports Games, which will take place in Palanga from 3-6 July. In anticipation of the celebration, on the weekend, the next town was selected to host the next Games in 2029 - the XIII World Lithuanian Sports Games. Jonava, a town in central Lithuania, is the winner of the selection procedure.

12 municipalities applied to become a town of the XIII World Lithuanian Sports Games. The winner was selected by a working group set up by the Prime Minister and chaired by Giedrius Grybauskas, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sport. The working group, which is also responsible for the organisation of this year’s Games, also includes representatives of the Office of the President, the Government, the Seimas, ministries, sports federations, the World Lithuanian Sports Association, the Lithuanian World Community, the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee, etc. Representatives of the municipalities presented their visions of how the XIII World Lithuanian Games could take place in their town to the working group. 

The World Lithuanian Sports Games are usually held every 4 years.
