5 bronze medals won by 5 Lithuanians at the World Mathematics Olympiad
Lithuanian students won 5 bronze medals at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad which was held on 8-21 July in Sanshain Coast, Australia, which was the highest ranking in 10 years. This year, the participants also solved a problem proposed by Lithuania, created by Paulius Aleknavičius, who won gold at the 2024 Olympiad.
Bronze medals were brought home by: Rugilė Dzindzalietaitė, a pupil of class I Vilnius Jesuit High School (trained for the Olympiad by Dr. Dainius Dzindzalieta and teacher Zina Šiaulienė), Adomas Juodis, a pupil of class II Kaunas University of Technology Gymnasium (teacher Aušra Beinakaraitienė), Kirylas Krutsko, a class IV pupil of Vilnius Lyceum (teacher Linas Ulevičius), Pijus Piekus, a class II pupil of Vilnius Lyceum (teacher Dr. Erikas Karikovas) and Matas Povilaitis, a class IV pupil of Šiauliai Julius Janonis Gymnasium (teachers Leonas Narkevičius and Daiva Riukienė).
The Lithuanian team was led by Dr. Aivaras Novikas, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Vilnius University, and Ernestas Ramanauskas, a former Olympian and graduate of Cambridge University.
