Lithuanian school students win silver and bronze at the European Physics Olympiad

Lithuanian students won two silver and two bronze medals at the IX European Physics Olympiad held in Sofia, Bulgaria, 13-17 June. Robertas Juknevičius and Tomas Razbadauskas, 11th graders of Kaunas University of Technology Gymnasium (teacher Darius Virbukas), were awarded silver medals, while Kipras Deksnys, a graduate of Vilnius Lyceum (teacher Eugenijus Rudminas), and Armandas Grinkevičius, 11th grade student from Trakai Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium (teacher Andrius Storta), were awarded bronze medals.

According to Gediminas Beresnevičius, Head of the Qualifications Department at the Lithuanian Agency of Non-Formal Education, our students successfully completed the two rounds arranged by the organisers of the European Physics Olympiad - the experimental and theoretical one. Out of the 5 members of the Lithuanian team, 4 received awards.

The Lithuanian team was led by Dr Jevgenij Chmeliov, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University and senior researcher at the Centre for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC), and Dr Vytautas Jakštas, a researcher at FTMC.
