Minister Popovienė to attend the Education World Forum in London and visit Lithuanian language schools

On 18-20 May, Raminta Popovienė, the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, will be in London to attend the international event “Education World Forum 2026”, visit Lithuanian educational institutions and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and meet with leaders of the local Lithuanian community.

“The Education World Forum is the world’s largest annual gathering of education ministers. During the three-day forum, ministers from around the world will discuss four interlinked themes: peace, planet, purpose and pathways. The organisers of the forum aim to present a cohesive vision for education supported by strong international dialogue and partnerships.

During the forum, ministers will discuss the importance of building citizenship and developing future-ready skills, the well-being of students, and strengthening equal opportunities in education. Best practices will be shared on digital literacy, educational technology and empowering educators in the age of AI, including discussions on early childhood education, vocational training, strengthening non-formal education, etc.

During her visit to London, Minister Popovienė will visit the Lithuanian Academy school and the Lithuanian kindergarten named Obelėlė.

In addition to Lithuanian language activities, the Lithuanian Academy also offers non-formal education, such as debating, art and robotics. It also organises a traditional children’s camp that brings together Lithuanians from all over the world every summer in Lithuania. Kindergarten Obelėlė follows the Lithuanian pre-school curriculum and the English EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum, with children aged 2 to 5 years.

The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain will host a meeting with leaders of the local Lithuanian community. Minister Popovienė will present the current issues in Lithuanian education and answer the questions that are most relevant to the Lithuanian community.
